Gorman-Rupp have been building quality packaged sewage pump stations for over 50 years, incorporating their ultra-reliable self-priming centrifugal sewage pumps. Gorman-Rupp “Engineered Systems” include the pumps, motors, controls, station piping, and can also include fibreglass enclosures.

Packaged stations are 100% designed, manufacured and tested by the manufactuer [Gorman-Rupp]. They are fully customisable, where Gorman-Rupp Hydraulic, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers precision-match pumps, motors, controls, valves and piping for maximum compatibility and maximum performance.

Using self-priming pumps in the sewage collection system is a break from the “norm” [submersible pumps], but they come with a many advantages. They are undoubtedly easier to access, easier and quicker to service/maintain, and much safer for operators. This safety does not actually come with added cost, it reduces costs. Pumps last longer, no discharge bends or lifting chains to replace, no confined spaces entry permits, so maintaining these stations are vastly more cost effective than “conventional” stations.

The Self-Priming Difference

Self-priming pump stations are installed at ground level. This means that operators have access to the pumps, valves, motors and controls by just opening a door [no below-ground valve vaults]. They can monitor seal and bearing oil levels and condition at a glance, make internal pump clearance adjustments in minutes, and because they are right next to the pumps [not 6 metres above pumps that are covered in a metre or more of raw sewage], they can pick up on anything that might look or sound abnormal before it becomes a problem.

Preventative maintenance plays a big role in increasing the life of mechanical equipment. No different for sewage pump station equipment. Because Gorman-Rupp pumps are located at ground level, and super-easy to access, routine maintenance is a lot more likely to be performed. This means clearances can be kept at factory settings [reducing energy costs and reducing frequency of blockages] and any required maintenance can be carried out in an orderly manner rather than “panic-stations” for an emergency break-down.

Pumps can operate on suction lifts up to 7.6 metres.

Handling Tough Solids

Gorman-Rupp Super T and Ultra V Series pumps 4” (100mm) and up, can pass 76mm spherical solids, making them excellent sewage pumps. Some applications however, require pumps to handle extra heavy loads of stringy materials such as wet wipes, rags etc. That’s why Gorman-Rupp has developed new technologies to handle these materials. Their “Eradicator Solids Management System” and “Eradicator Plus” technologies are designed to pass these types of tough solids, where other pumps would choke.

But there has not been a pump invented that cannot clog. That is why Gorman-Rupp pumps are also the best to un-clog. With a lightweight inspection cover, one operator can un-block a pump in minutes and have the pump up and running fast, without the need to remove the pump from service, without the use of a crane, and without exposing operators to working over water or working at heights.

When you buy a Gorman-Rupp packaged station, you know it has been designed by their team of Hydraulic, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers. You also know that the pumps have been tested to their project duty point. Not only that, the entire system (Pumps, valves, controls, piping) is then tested at the exact duty it will face in the field.

Before your pump station leaves the factory, you know it will do the job. Not only that, every component in a Gorman-Rupp pump station is warranted for a full five years. That’s pumps, motors, valves, controls, and even the fiberglass enclosures [if ordered]. The enclosures are mildew, fungus, UV, mould, and even vandal resistant.
