A NSW meat process plant was looking to upgrade their effluent transfer pumps. Their vertically mounted end suction pumps were getting on, and maintenance was starting to cost more, and they were needing to do the maintenance more regularly. They were looking for a pump that could deliver the efficiencies they were used to, be able to draw water from the below ground wet well, and deliver the required flow (up to 75 litres per second {L/s}).
Hydro Innovations suggested they try a Gorman-Rupp V6A60-B, which is one of Gorman-Rupp’s Ultra V Series range of self priming wastewater pumps. This range is the latest in solids handling self priming pump technology from Gorman-Rupp and can deliver hydraulic efficiencies up to 70%. The pump is also the easiest to maintain, and safest self priming pump on the market today.
Keeping the pump at peak efficiency is easy for operators, as clearance adjustments are done externally, without the need to open the pump or remove it from service (one operator, two spanners, and four minutes). This minimises power costs and reduces the incidence of blockages.
The pump was coupled to a 75kW motor and supplied to site for years of trouble free pumping.
