EDUR have been working on energy-efficient concepts and sustainable optimisation of processes for many years.

EDUR is a leading German pump manufacturing company, specialising in high-quality industrial centrifugal pumps. EDUR produces pumps for industries such as the food process industry and the municipal industry. Their pumps are customised to suit a range of applications including hot and cold water pumping, wastewater, LPG pumping, dissolved air flotation (DAF) and refrigerant pumping.

EDUR was founded in 1927 by Eduard Redlien. EDUR’s core business was based around the invention of the self-priming centrifugal pump which challenged the side-channel pumps that were used at the time. The EDUR pump worked on the principle of the formation of a liquid-air mixture. It featured a sensationally high level of reliability and robustness for the time. The pumps were used to supply houses and farms, dairies and other commercial operations with water. With these self-priming pumps, the young company grew steadily throughout the 1930s and expanded its circle of customers, which also included export.

During the 1980s, the company moved its focus away from series production to a customer-oriented niche supplier. The company quickly implemented the required measures to enable this and have not looked back.

Due to the modular design, there are almost no limits on the pump configuration. Shaft seals range from a single-acting mechanical seal to double-acting sealing systems to magnetic coupling.

The material range comprises grey cast iron, for the likes of water and coolants, bronze for seawater, stainless steels for process engineering and special steels such as duplex steel and Hastelloy for oil and gas. Different pump hydraulics enable gas-loaded liquid conveyance, enrichment of liquids with gases and low NPSH values.

EDUR understands the importance of minimising the impact of business and manufacturers on the environment. EDUR has been working on energy-efficient concepts and sustainable optimisation of processes for many years. EDUR also ensures sustainability at its own headquarters in Kiel, Germany.

The EDUR Torque-Flow (FUB) range of centrifugal pumps have vortex impellers and are capable of handling spherical solids up to 80mm in diameter. They are close-coupled and available with casings of Cast Iron, Ductile Iron or Gunmetal Bronze, impellers of Ductile Iron, Gunmetal Bronze or Stainless Steel, with Stainless Steel shafts (in 2 grades). Some models are available in all Stainless Steel construction. Abrasion-resistant protective linings of ceramic and polyurethane are also available.

Designing pumps since 1927, EDUR Pumpenfabrik has developed a range of pumps for use in refrigeration systems. They have been designed to provide a maximum level of safety, reliability and efficiency. They are the safe option because they use standard TEFC motors, which don’t need to be cooled using the pumped media. They are efficient because they use magnetic couplings. By using magnetic couplings energy is not wasted by pumping fluid over the motor [as with “canned motor pumps”] and back through to the separator.

The EDUR range of multi-stage centrifugal pumps can deliver flows to 45 litres per second and heads to 300 metres. They are also available in a variety of materials (Cast Iron, All Bronze, All Stainless Steel and Super-Duplex) enabling them to pump corrosive fluids including seawater. These centrifugal pumps are ideal for booster systems, boiler feed and condensate systems, washing plants, water treatment and hardening systems.

Pumps can be close or long-coupled. Advantages include:

EDUR self-priming centrifugal pumps can operate on suction lifts to 7.5 metres and can deliver pressures to 165m. They are able to transfer mildly contaminated water, cooling water, emulsions, oils, and fuels such as kerosine, petrol and diesel.

EDUR self-priming pumps use an integrated jet pump to provide a fast priming function, and they can be supplied as close or long-coupled configurations.

These self-priming pumps are available in Cast Iron, All Bronze, or All Stainless Steel [depending on model] enabling them to pump corrosive fluids including seawater.

The EDUR LBU multiphase pump is a multi-stage centrifugal pump with the unique capability of being able to pump a liquid/gas mixture. The centrifugal pump is constructed of either C.I./ Bz/ SS, Nodular Cast Iron, All-Bronze, Stainless Steel, or Super-Duplex Stainless-Steel construction, so may be used to handle a variety of liquids.

Air, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide and Ozone gases can be introduced into the suction line and transported and used to mix or disperse the gases. This makes the pump ideal for DAF plants, where the multiphase pumps provide the task of air saturation without the use of compressed air (no compressor, air saturation tank or associated controls).

Advantages include:

  • Flows to 16 l/s, able to treat DAF tank inflows up to 150 L/s with a single pump.
  • Pressures to 12 bar
  • Operating pressure max. 40 bar
  • Handle temperatures from -50 °C to 140 °C
  • Gas contents up to 30 %

The EDUR range of Industry Bloc close-coupled centrifugal pumps are ideal for pumping water and other clean and slightly polluted fluids. They are compact in size, and available in a variety of materials of construction including cast iron, bronze and stainless steel.

Motors are either 2 pole or 4 pole, with IP55 enclosures, and insulation class F.

The centrifugal pump is constructed of stainless steel, so may be used to handle a variety of liquids.
