Emergency bypass auto-start sewage pump units are designed to operate when mains power is unavailable because of storms or other forces. They are available with flow rates from 3 l/s through to 250 l/s, are diesel powered and mounted in a vandal resistant acoustic enclosure.

They have a completely independent level control system and take over when the main pumps in the station are unable to pump due to power failure, control panel failure, pump failure or for any other reason.

Gorman-Rupp emergency auto-start pump units are used instead of emergency power generation at pump stations because of their versatility.

Advantages include:

  • Pumping capability when power is unavailable
  • Use smaller engines than generators because starting current does not need to be factored in
  • Can be used as the standby pump for the main station if one of the submersible pumps is down for repairs
  • No load banks or automatic switch gear are required
  • No modifications to existing control panels are necessary

The Gorman-Rupp ES 6x6T above ground sewage pump station sits on the same 2.1m x 2.1m footprint as the ES 6×6, but is one metre taller. It is a fully customizable, pre-engineers package that comes to site with only power and piping connection required.

Stations are equipped with two Super T Series® pumps [T2, T3, T4, or T6] or two Ultra V Series® pumps [V3, or V4]. They fit inside a neat, low-silhouette fiberglass cover that blends with its surroundings, with four colours to choose from, or seven different 3M™ vinyl wraps.

All pumps are available with Gorman-Rupp’s “Eradicator Solids Management System®” to handle stringy materials such as rags, matted hair and wet wipes.

Advantages include:

  • Lower civil costs/ engineering
  • Lower operational costs (above-ground = easy to access)
  • Greatly reduced WH&S issues (No confined spaces entry, use of cranes or open wet wells)

The Gorman-Rupp Self Cleaning Sump (SCS) is a revolution in wastewater pump station wet well design. The SCS is an easy to install sloping collector pipe (fabricated from heavy duty HDPE) that is directly connected to the control manhole, and used in conjunction with Gorman-Rupp self priming sewage pumps.

The Self Cleaning Sump has been designed to replace the conventional cylindrical wet well and to remove the flaws associated with this current design. The negatives of the conventional design are considered to be the amount of intervention (number of personnel per call and the number of calls) required with these stations, the risks to operators associated with accessing the wet well for blockage removal and maintenance, and the longevity and reliability of equipment.

The aim of the SCS design is to:

  • Eliminate blockages caused by the build-up of rags and stringy matter
  • Eliminate sediment build-up
  • Eliminate fat and grease build-up
  • Eliminate air entrainment
