Want to cut costs at your DAF system? Read this to see how your DAF system can be improved.
Cost reduction is a driving force in pump design. Manufacturers are always looking for ways to reduce the manufacturing costs of their pumps. Installing the right pump can help save $$$ dramatically in the long run.
EDUR’s range of “Multiphase” pumps are designed to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising the production outcomes. Their unique ability to handle air enables them to replace the air saturation tanks, compressors, and complicated controls associated with “conventional” DAF systems.

A single dissolved air floatation (DAF) pump is able to replace the entire air bubble system on DAF plants. There is no pressure vessel to continually certify, no compressor to maintain, and no more complicated control system. The pump draws in air through a snorkel in the suction line, shears the air, then feeds it into the DAF plant, producing a discharge stream into the tank that is saturated with 30 to 50 micron air bubbles.
Multiphase DAF pumps provide asset owners with a simple and easy-¬to-¬use system which can replace a range of existing equipment, leading to significant savings in maintenance costs and increased energy efficiency.
By using EDUR multiphase pump technology, asset owners can replace the compressor, air saturation (pressure) vessel, control system and multistage pump with a single pump that can replicate or improve the performance of the conventional system.

The EDUR multiphase DAF pump greatly simplifies the system, and because of this, capital costs on new installations and maintenance costs can be greatly reduced. No compressor to maintain and no pressure vessel to maintain and certify.
Municipalities for water and wastewater treatment as well as Food processing companies will benefit from the reliability of their DAF system and reduce maintenance costs by retrofitting an EDUR “multiphase” pump.

The EDUR LBU multiphase pump is a multi-stage centrifugal pump with the unique capability of being able to pump a liquid/gas mixture. The centrifugal pump is constructed of either C.I./ Bz/ SS, Nodular Cast Iron, All-Bronze, Stainless Steel, or Super-Duplex Stainless Steel construction, so may be used to handle a variety of liquids.
Air, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide and Ozone gases can be introduced into the suction line and transported and used to mix or disperse the gases. This makes the pump ideal for DAF plants, where the multiphase pumps provide the task of air saturation without the use of compressed air (no compressor, air saturation tank or associated controls).
Advantages include:
- Liquid flows to 16 l/s
- Gas content up to 20%
- Cast iron/Bronze/Stainless steel, Nodular cast Iron, All-Bronze, Stainless Steel, or Super-Duplex Stainless Steel construction
- Completely replace the “old” DAF system with a single pump

The EDUR range of Multistage Liquid Gas (LPG) pumps can deliver flows to 45 l/s and pressures to 14 bar (to go to 90 l/s and 40 bar in the not too distant future). These technically superior pumps deliver high efficiencies, low noise levels, low NPSH and reduced axial and radial forces. They also offer less wear than sliding vane pumps and higher efficiencies than side channel pumps. Pumps are ideal for transfer systems and for loading and unloading ships, rail cars, trucks etc.
Motors are 2 pole with IP55 enclosures, and insulation class F and conform to ATEX 94/9/EC. Advantages include:

The EDUR PBU multiphase pump is a single-stage peripheral centrifugal pump with the unique capability of being able to pump a liquid/gas mixture. The centrifugal pump is constructed of stainless steel, so may be used to handle a variety of liquids.
- Liquid flows to 1 l/s
- Gas content up to 15%
- Stainless steel construction
- Completely replace the “old” DAF system with a single pump

Designing pumps since 1927, EDUR Pumpenfabrik has developed a range of pumps for use in refrigeration systems. They have been designed to provide a maximum level of safety, reliability and efficiency. They are the safe option because they use standard TEFC motors, which don’t need to be cooled using the pumped media. They are efficient because they use magnetic couplings. By using magnetic couplings energy is not wasted by pumping fluid over the motor [as with “canned motor pumps”] and back through to the separator.
Advantages include:
- Suitable for ammonia, C02, synthetic refrigerants and refrigerants containing hydrocarbons/li>
- No heat transfer from motor to pumped media/li>
- Low maintenance/li>
- Low NPSH values/li>
- Pulsation free operation/li>
- Long service life
