Quality Pumps for Oenology
Hydro Innovations provides a wide range of quality pumps in Australia to meet the requirements of many applications within the wine making industry. From delicately transferring whole grape bunches to pumping your wastewater and aerating lagoons, Hydro Innovations has the right solution.
The Rotho peristaltic wine pumps can transfer whole grape clusters without altering either the grape berries or skins. The “opening/closing” movement of the tube is static, without the grinding effect of other types of pump. The pumped product is therefore not damaged in any way. They are also excellent for must transfer, pumping over and other product pumping duties.
Gorman-Rupp produce the best wastewater pumps and wastewater aerators, being the safest pumps and easiest pumps to service and most reliable in the industry.

Exclusive to Hydro Innovations
Hydro Innovations is proud to represent Ragazzini in Australia. Ragazzini is a family owned and run business, based in Faenza, Italy, with roots that date back to 1921. Their values of ethics, integrity, honesty and trust are built into every product and every application/selection.
The great dynamism of the world of wine requires production techniques that can increase the quality and efficiency of production to stand out from the competition. From Ragazzini’s research came a pump capable of respecting and preserving the food product, in its totality integrity and quality until delivered from the pump.
The Rotho peristaltic pump allows you to treat, with the utmost delicacy, wine or must in the various processing phases, drained pomace, destemmed grapes or whole grapes to maintain the quality of the product unaltered.
Ragazzini’s “Rotho” peristaltic wine pumps offer a delicate pumping action with a range of features including CIP capabilities, early leak detection [to minimise product loss], and pump casings without lubricant [to minimise contamination].
Ragazzini pumps offer a slow and gentle pumping action to handle shear-sensitive and delicate fluids, making them ideal for the wine industry. The Rotho peristaltic wine pumps does not damage the grapes, skins, or seeds, during pumping.
Comparative tests confirm that the Rotho pump limits lees residues to one-third of the quantity generated by other pumping and processing systems.
The gentle trauma-free transfer preserves the fragrance of the product and allows more complete and homogeneous colour extraction. Rotho pumps can be used to for must transfer, pumping over, and filling barrels with absolute delicacy, avoiding all trauma to the pumped wine or agitation of the sediment in the barrels.
Ragazzini Rotho pumps can be fitted with a purpose-built screw feeder, synchronously speed matched to the pump, to enable them to transfer whole grape clusters and whole grapes without altering either the grape berries or skins. The “opening/closing” movement of the tube is static, without the grinding effect of other types of pump. The pumped product is therefore not damaged in any way.
Undamaged grape skins reduce the quantity of lees during static decantation of the must, obtaining a product that is easy to treat during filtration, clarification etc.
The Rotho peristaltic wine pumps can also be used to pump dried grapes without clogging, avoiding the usual problems caused by the lower quantity of liquid present.
Comparative tests have shown that more than 50% of the whole berries being pumped pass through the ROTHO pumps totally intact and without damage.
Gorman-Rupp’s range of self-priming wastewater pumps have been handling tough industrial and municipal applications since 1963, and the latest Super T pumps have taken solids handling even further. “Standard” pumps will handle a 76mm spherical [cricket ball size] solid, and are equipped with lightweight [under 10kg] inspection covers to make it easy and safe for operators to access pump internals.
When stringy solids like wet-wipes, rags, gloves, rope or grape stems find their way into wastewater streams, Gorman-Rupp has developed “Eradicator®” and “Eradicator Plus™” technologies to cope with these tough solids.
They are surface mounted to give operators easy and safe access for monitoring and maintenance, and have a simple, but extremely reliable priming system, with maintenance features that make it easy for one operator to complete repairs.

Ragazzini Chemical Transfer
The smaller Ragazzini peristaltic pumps can dose enzymes, bentonite, glycerin, gum arabic and sulphur dioxide with an absolute precision of .5-1%. Hose materials also make it possible to pump caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite and citric acid.
Ragazzini pumps can help automate some manual chemical dosing operations, to improve performance in handling various products. They can also be relied upon to improve operation, deliver a longer working life, be cheaper to maintain and offer higher abrasion resistance than other types of pump.

Wastewater Aeration
Wastewater aeration can be more cost-effective by using Gorman-Rupp’s Echo-Storm units. Mounting them on the banks of lagoons or beside tanks, instead of aerators being in or on the water reduces installation costs and makes maintenance so much easier, while producing dissolved oxygen at equal to or better than other technologies. WHS issues are also greatly reduced, having a positive impact on morale and costs.
EchoStorm aerators are available in four sizes and are “powered” by self-priming pumps, which draw wastewater from the source, then pump it at pressure through the EchoStorm unit, and deliver aerated water back to the source.

Centrifugal Wastewater Pumps
Gorman-Rupp 6400 Series centrifugal pumps are the rugged and reliable choice for flooded suction wastewater pumping applications.
They are designed to handle tough solids pumping applications, and have many interchangeable parts with Gorman-Rupp’s “Super T Series”.
Handle rags, wet wipes, gloves, grape storks and skins and other solids that would block other pumps. They are available in a wide variety of materials to enable them to pump wastewater, containing corrosive and/or abrasive materials.
6400 Series pumps are available with a variety of impellers and wear plates to provide efficient handling of tough applications. This includes “Eradicator” and “Eradicator Plus” technology, along with vortex impeller options.
